And Anne has done it again! I love her pattern designs so much. Datura, her new design for Spring / Summer wear, is knit in Spirit Trail Sunna in a new colorway named “Angel Trumpet.” I love the design of this top so much, from the picot-edged cross-over ballerina style neckline to the lace pattern of the body which will help keep this top cooler and more wearable in warm Spring and Summer weather (and that’s essential in Virginia, where the vast majority of my hand knits sadly get put away until Fall).
The blend of superwash merino, cashmere, and silk in fingering weight Sunna gives this top lovely drape. Even better, it’s machine washable on the gentle cycle (I’d still lay it out flat to dry, but it will go through the dryer on the cool / warm setting with no problem. But I think machine washing / drying makes the yarn pill more quickly, over time, so I typically hand wash and dry).
When Anne posted this photo on FaceBook last year, I immediately started thinking what a fun colorway it would be. We got to talking, and viola! This wonderful design is the result. I really can’t describe how much I love collaborating with talented designers and how exciting it is for me to see the results.
To me, this is the perfect marriage of design and color ~ feminine and just a bit flirty. Of course, it will look great in other colors, too (when I knit this for myself, it will not be in this color; I’ve not been swayed that far to pink to believe I can attractively wear this particular color, no matter how fun I may think it is).
Datura will be on display in the Spirit Trail Fiberworks’ booth at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival May 7-8, 2016. We’re in the Main Building, Booth Number A30; stop by and visit, and check out all the great new colors, kits and booth samples we’ll have! (New colorways and kits will be added to the Spirit Trail website when we get home, too.)
