One of my favorite places in the world is Scotland. My husband, Brett, and I went there on our honeymoon 20 years ago, and I have longed to go back ever since (or, even better, move there permanently 😀 ).
The screensaver on my computer is a National Geographic photograph of the Ring of Brodgar, a stunning neolithic ring of standing stones on the Mainland, the largest island in Orkney.
So, as colors sometimes do, this one got stuck in my head and I wanted to translate it onto yarn.
The Ring of Brodgar is a rich blend of browns, grays, olives, rust and gold hues. It looks really fabulous in colorwork projects, with a tonal solid compliment.
I knit a lovely scarf, Barb’s Koigu Ruffle with Sunna in Ring of Brodgar a few years ago, which is a fantastic and fun pattern for variegated yarns.
And yes, in the midst of the awful heat we’re having in Virginia these days, I do have Autumn on the brain, as the last two Color Inspirations colorways would indicate :-D. Dreaming of cool weather, falling leaves, crisp air, and sweaters!
