“Opposites Attract” Shop Update is Live!

The last shop update of 2017 is now live at Spirit Trail Fiberworks!

This update features two brand new bases: Aurora, a fingering weight 100% superwash Merino singly ply, and Zaftig, a super bulky 100% Fine Merino single ply. They’re on opposite ends of the yarn weight spectrum and the alphabet, one is superwash and the other is not. Aurora is svelt and fine; Zaftig is voluptuous and plush. But that’s where their opposite qualities end. They both have a wonderful hand, quiet sheen, take dye like a dream, knit up into wonderful garments and accessories, and are next-to-skin soft.

I really, really love how both of these bases take dye. Aurora has a little bit of a halo, and lovely sheen. Colors really pop on it, in both speckles and tonal solids. Zaftig is so chunky that speckles spread out a bit and merge into one another, creating more of a variegated look instead of pops of color (but, some speckle pops survive). Zaftig is very similar to Malabrigo Rasta, if you’re familiar with that base.

There are a lot more colors of both in the shop, although quantities of Zaftig are more limited and it’s selling pretty quickly.

Also new in my Etsy shop are more hand-painted silk scarves, which I just love. They are so warm and soft, and really quite perfect. My favorite size is the 35″ x 84,” because it’s so light I can crunch is up around my neck in cold weather, and wear it as a light shawl in hot weather.

And, lastly, I’ve added some new inventory to my On Sale page, 20 – almost 50% off. You may know how I feel about single skeins and ends of dyelots (I’m sure I’ve complained about them enough ;-D ), so check out the sale page for some good deals on great yarn.
